FAQ
What is foamed concrete?
Foamed concrete is a type of lightweight cellular made from adding a stable foam to a mixture of cement , sand and water. sometimes only foam, cement and water is only needed to make special very low density materials.
How is it made?
It is produced using a foaming agent (Noraite SA1) which is diluted in water many times ( premix solution) . This premix is run through a specially designed machine that expands it into a stable aqueous foam ( tiny bubbles of air). This foam is then added to cement mortar or slurry which then produces a low density material called foamed concrete.
What are its applications?
Well actually many and extensive and nearly as much as concrete can do. The easiest would to make aprons , pavements and slab on grade for low rise buildings. next would be mega blocks and small precast panels that would be easily cast on site . Other useful applications would be floor scrreding and void filling under slabs that have bad soil conditions and backfill behind retaining walls.
Do you provide training?
Yes, we offer comprehensive training programs. In fact this is the very first thing that we advise and encourage for those who are new to this material. We have trained hundreds of users over the 17 years of our buisness . This includes basic introductory training to advanced training in areas of block , panel fabricators , housing system buiders and geotechnical contractors. Our methods offers both theory and empiracal approach to making foamed concrete and easy for contractors and also non professionals to follow.
Is it sustainable?
Yes, we use mix designs that are sustainable ( eg. no aggragtes in our concrete ) thereby saving the environment issues related to it. Also many alternative waste materials can be used togther / or replaced to make the final product "GREEN" and sustainable.
How long is the process?
The setup process varies but is generally efficient and quick. It usually requires a short pre assembly or preparation time to put up the basic equipment together ( which is not much) and pre cast the elements or components or cast in place where you need them. The process is very similar to normal concrete but with some modifactions since its specially mixed.
